Major decisions, according to Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, included accepting financial bids for the development of 40 lift irrigation schemes with intake points on various rivers in the districts of Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Gajapati, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Angul, and Cuttack.

The construction of two integrated barrages, the first across the Kochila River near Kuturia Village in the Bhadrak District and the second across the Baitarani River near village Dhobabil in the Jajpur District, was among the 33 recommendations that the Odisha Cabinet approved on Thursday.

The Cabinet also approved the bid for the aforementioned work for an execution cost of Rs 200 crore (excluding GST) and Rs 1 crore in 0 & M costs over a five-year period (without GST). The project is expected to be finished in 30 months.

This storage facility is anticipated to reduce flooding in the Kochila River and to revitalise the Baitarani River.

The approval of the financial bids for the construction of 40 lift irrigation schemes with intake points on various rivers in the districts of Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Gajapati, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Angul, and Cuttack was one of the major decisions, according to Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra.

The Cabinet also accepted the financial bids for the left command of the lower Suktel irrigation project’s distribution network’s pressurised underground pipe line (UGPL) irrigation network system.

The Central Research Institute in Homeopathy (CIRH), 50 acres of land in favour of Rajendra University for their infrastructure development, and 3.125 acres of land for the National Center for Disease Control were approved for leases from the government (NCDC).

Cabinet approval was given to a proposal that would reserve 15% of seats in government physical education colleges for students residing in government sports dormitories as well as improved funding for the State Level Sports Infrastructure Development scheme.
