To ensure that the populace has access to clean drinking water, the Odisha government has sanctioned piped water delivery projects totaling more than Rs 1000 crore. Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, presided over a cabinet meeting on Saturday when nine water supply projects totaling more than Rs 1,287 crore were authorised. For the three districts of Malkangiri, Jajpur, and Nayagarh, the projects have been approved.

Jajpur received approval for water supply projects totaling Rs 254.66 crore, and the district of Nayagarh received a budget of Rs 393.93 crore. Funds totaling Rs 639.26 crore have been granted for four massive piped water supply projects in Malkangiri as part of the “Jal Jeevan Mission” plan. According to a government release, the project will assist more than 3 lakh people in 453 villages in the district of Malkangiri, which is populated by tribal people.

The installation of drinking water delivery projects will assist almost 4.45 lakh people in the Nayagarh and Jajpur regions.

15,711 instructors and staff members will benefit from an increase in subsidies for employees of government-aided colleges, according to Odisha’s Development Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena.

According to Jena, the state government will incur an additional expense of Rs 290 crore annually as a result of the increase in grant-in-aid.

The Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Care Centre and Research Institute would be built on two acres of land, according to a plan that the cabinet also accepted. This will allow for the inexpensive housing of cancer patients.
