Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi reviews preparedness for the Prime Minister’s October 25 visit as Odisha strengthens its technology profile.
Odisha is set to mark an important milestone in digital infrastructure with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi scheduled to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s ₹169-crore data centre at Info Valley-II in Jatni on October 25.
Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has reviewed the state’s preparedness for the high-profile visit. The inauguration provides a significant platform for the Majhi government to showcase Odisha’s potential as a destination for advanced technology infrastructure and institutional investment.
Spread over 18.55 acres, the RBI facility is designed to strengthen data management, disaster recovery, cybersecurity and business continuity for critical financial operations. These include currency management, payment and settlement systems, and regulatory functions, officials said.
The facility will add to Odisha’s digital infrastructure while supporting the resilience of India’s financial systems. Its establishment at Jatni also brings greater national visibility to the technology ecosystem developing around Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister Majhi’s review of preparations, alongside the administrative assessment led by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, underscores the state government’s attention to the visit. For the administration, the occasion offers an opportunity to reinforce Odisha’s development priorities and highlight its capacity to host infrastructure of national importance.
BJP state vice-president Jatin Mohanty said the inauguration would strengthen Odisha’s digital footprint and support its emergence as a technology and electronics manufacturing destination. He described the scheduled visit as the Prime Minister’s ninth to the state since the formation of the BJP government in 2024.
According to the tentative itinerary shared by the Chief Secretary’s office, the Prime Minister is expected to reach Biju Patnaik International Airport around 4.30 pm aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft. He will then travel by helicopter to Khurda helipad before proceeding by road to the RBI facility.
Modi is likely to spend approximately an hour at the inauguration venue before returning to Bhubaneswar and departing around 6.30 pm. The programme remains subject to final confirmation.
Officials said the site was selected with geographical stability and operational security in mind. The project’s foundation stone was laid by then RBI Governor Shri Shaktikanta Das on March 22, 2023.
As the facility reaches its inauguration stage, the Majhi government has an opportunity to build on this institutional investment by strengthening the skills, infrastructure and business environment needed for further technology development.
The October 25 event will place Odisha prominently on India’s digital infrastructure map, giving Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi’s administration a significant occasion to advance the state’s technology and investment ambitions.
