Man is a social animal, while many people place a great deal of value on their families. That may be especially true for Mamina, a Belgian girl who recently travelled to India to reunite with her family after a long separation of 29 years in the far-flung village of Kandhamal. Mamina was elated and joyful both before and after meeting her family.
Mamina underwent this life event after being adopted by a Belgian couple after being born to her biological Odia parents in the Kandhamal area of Odisha. The last few years of her life were spent blissfully, but she was unaware of her true identity. But now she is fully informed. She travelled to Odisha to meet her relatives.
Mamina was born in the Kandhamal district of Odisha’s Raikia neighbourhood. Krushna Chandra, her real father, is from the Gujapanga village in the Raikia block of the Kandhamal district of Odisha. Mamina’s mother passed away about three decades ago when she was only three months old. Her biological father now abandoned the toddler to the Subhadra Mahtab Ashram of G Udaygiri since he had run out of options for raising her. Mamina was raised within an ashram.
Later, a Belgian couple came to Kandhamal. The same Ashram where Mamina was raised was where they went. They were attracted to her after seeing her and decided to adopt her.
As a result, they completed all the legal requirements set forth by the State for the adoption of a child by a foreign couple. After adopting her, they brought her to Belgium.
Mamina was raised in Belgium by her adoptive parents. She met a young man a few years ago while pursuing her studies at the University. They soon fell in love with one another and later married.
Mamina was conducting her life in accordance with the alternative account of her family that she had been given. On a vacation a few years ago, someone did, however, inquire as to her Anglo Indian heritage.
She began to investigate the possibility of a connection between this and her birth when the thought crossed her mind. She was open and honest about her birth with her adoptive parents, who also told her about her connection to Kandhamal.
Mamina began looking into her original identity since, as we previously established, many people place a high value on their families. She got in touch with a Pune-based organisation that seeks to identify such children’s true identities. The organisation assigned Ali Pawar, a female advocate, the task of determining Mamina’s identification. As a result, Ali began researching the matter. She visited Kandhamal throughout the course of her inquiry and spoke with Mamina’s family.
Recently, Mamina and her husband traveled all the way from Belgium. Along with the lady advocate, the joyful pair travelled to her home village and met her family. After seeing her biological family, she felt as though she were on cloud nine. She broke down in tears. Mamina saw her biological father, siblings, and villagers, after which she went back to Belgium.
