Born in a lesser-known village named Adhanga Mallikeswarpur of Kendrapara district in the state of Odisha Sagar has completed his studies in Engineering & Management. He is now working with an American multinational company (MNC) as a senior associate. In an interview with Kalinga TV, Sagar talks about his latest bestselling book Internet of Things and comes up with tongue-in-cheek replies on everything, from writing experiences to influences. Excerpts:

Could you tell us more about your latest book ‘Internet of Things’? What is it all about?

The book is based on the computing concept that describes the idea of everyday physical objects being connected to the internet and being able to identify themselves to other devices.

What is the application of IoT in our day-to-day life? How it will transform our future?

By the use of IoT, we can make anything (object) smart like a watch, a TV set, an Air conditioner etc. Thankfully now smart-watches, smart ACs, smart TVs, smart cars are available in the market. Similarly in future we will see smart homes, smart roads, smart agriculture, smart hospital, smart logistics and many more.

Why this book of yours is more successful, than your previous books?

This book is about an emerging topic of technical, social and economic significance, which is having a great future and be instrumental to grab huge job opportunities. That’s why this book is more popular among today’s tech savvy young generation.

Your first book A Cup of Tea with Life was a fiction. How did you transform yourself from a story-teller to a technical author?

My passion is writing and being an engineer. I always keep an eye to learn new technologies. Accordingly, three years back I decided to shift my focus to technical writing. Especially I specialize on how technology influences human life.

Do you think marketing plays a major role in the acceptance of a book?

It is important if you are an author who wants to be read. Yet, only good marketing or promotion will not help if it is not backed by ideal content or mediocre.

What are your upcoming projects?

My next book on “Artificial Intelligence” is in progress, which is expected to be published by mid-2019.

Who is your favourite author?

I have great respect for all the authors. However, since you specifically ask to name here are my favourites. I love works of J. K. Rowling, Dan Brown, Manoj Das, Pratibha Ray and Shiv Khera.

Name a person, whose life has inspired you the most?

None other than our former President, Bharat Ratna (Late) Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Sir.

Sagar’s previous works include the famous story series A Cup of Tea with Life (2013), Basic Java (2015) and others. He has received many awards from different national and international bodies for his research and books. He continues writing his popular blogs and articles that includes tech tips, inspirational stories and travel blogs.
