Case of Archana Blackmail: A 26-year-old woman was detained for entangling a number of politicians in a sex ring. Later, her spouse was also detained.

In response to the high-profile Archana Nag blackmailing case, the opposition Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Congress criticised Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and sought a CBI investigation.

In response to Patnaik’s “silence” about the blackmailing case, the BJP declared that it will hold a gherao at his residence on Monday.

A statement from the CM about the alleged involvement of politicians of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the matter was also requested by the Congress.

What is the Blackmailing Case of Archana Nag?

Nag, a 26-year-old woman, was detained by police on October 6 on suspicion of extorting others, including politicians, by putting them in the middle of a prostitution ring. Later, her spouse was also detained.

“Even when multiple BJD leaders are embroiled in the Archana Nag-related controversy, the chief minister remains silent. The BJP requests that the CM make a statement regarding the matter “Lekhashree Samantsinghar, the BJP’s state general secretary, told reporters this.

She claimed that even though Patnaik, the BJD president, was aware of every detail of the case, he chose to remain mute, confusing the public.

Because of this, the saffron party has decided to gherao “Naveen Niwas,” the chief minister’s residence, on Monday in an effort to put pressure on him to act in the matter and seek a CBI investigation, Samantsinghar added.

“Patnaik’s silence has exacerbated the mystery in the case in which many senior leaders are engaged,” OPCC President Sarat Pattnayak stated during a separate press conference.

He asked that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) conduct a court-monitored investigation of the entire incident.

Patnaik asserted that the BJD government and the ruling party are to blame for the damage done to Odisha’s reputation outside of the state.

Lenin Mohanty, a spokesman for the BJD, denied the accusations and asserted that the national parties had no issues to bring up ahead of the Dhamnagar by-election on November 3.

The ideal time for the revelation of the truth in the Archana Nag case, he predicted.

According to a police estimate conducted internally, Nag and her husband Jagabandhu Chand bought properties worth Rs 30 crore in just four years, from 2018 to 2022.

The pair is said to have four purebred pets, four luxury cars, a white horse, and a mansion with imported interior furnishings.

Social media is flooded with images of Archana, Jagabandhu, and several leaders from various parties.
