Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken a significant step towards the establishment of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Bhubaneswar, a private university project initiated by the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal Trust. The trust is investing Rs 300 crore in this venture, and the Odisha government has generously allocated 40 acres of land on a lease at Gouda Kashipur, making the land available free of cost for the institute’s development.
Underlining the commitment to fostering educational opportunities, CM Naveen Patnaik underscored the state’s progress in various socio-economic domains, positioning Odisha as one of the fastest-growing economies in the nation. He highlighted the attractive economic landscape that has been instrumental in drawing talent not only from within India but also on a global scale.
According to official sources, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been formalized between the Odisha government and the trust, specifying that NMIMS will reserve 30% of its seats for meritorious students from Odisha. This move aims to ensure wider access to quality education and create opportunities for local talent.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, CM Patnaik drew attention to India’s ascent as the world’s fifth-largest economy, with projections of reaching the third position in the near future. He attributed this remarkable economic growth to the dynamic potential of India’s youth, emphasizing their pivotal role as a driving force for the global economy.
Expressing pride in the contributions of Indian management institutes, Patnaik acknowledged their role in imparting quality education and instilling values, making management professionals from the country highly sought after on the global stage. The chief minister’s visionary approach aligns with the broader goal of positioning Odisha as a hub for education and economic growth, thereby fostering a conducive environment for progress and development.
