The Integrated Textiles Manufacturing Facility and Warehousing Complex, with an estimated investment of Rs 3,000 crore, is anticipated to generate employment for over 10,000 individuals in and around the Choudwar region. Chief Minister Patnaik expressed optimism about the project’s impact, envisioning the restoration of Choudwar’s historical status as the textile hub of Odisha.

Reflecting on the historical significance of Choudwar, Patnaik highlighted its industrial development in the 1950s under the visionary leadership of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. The Chief Minister emphasized that the new complex would create a new chapter in Choudwar’s history, aligning with the legacy of industrial progress set by Biju Patnaik.

Naveen Patnaik further underlined the positive repercussions of the project on cotton farmers in Kalahandi, Bolangir, Rayagada, and Gajapati districts, emphasizing employment opportunities for women. He announced plans for skill training initiatives for women, reinforcing the commitment to empowering the local workforce.

Welspun Group Chairman Mr. BK Goenka expressed gratitude for the support and commitment shown by Chief Minister Patnaik and the Odisha government. Acknowledging their dedication to fostering an environment conducive to industrial growth, Goenka affirmed the group’s commitment to creating a world-class textiles ecosystem in Odisha. He also pledged to enhance the quality of life in Choudwar by developing various amenities for the public.

The project holds historical significance, considering Choudwar’s association with the Orissa Textiles Mill (OTM), co-founded by the legendary Biju Patnaik. Once the largest composite cotton mill in eastern India, the OTM’s legacy is set to be reignited through Welspun Group’s investment, promising industrial growth and direct support for the state’s cotton growers.

In conclusion, the collaboration between the visionary Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the Welspun Group signifies a transformative chapter for Odisha, rekindling industrial prosperity and contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
