Youth Olympic Games: Manu Bhaker wins gold in women’s 10m Air pistol

Pune October 10, 2018 : India’s Manu Bhaker finished the podium with 236.5 and clinched gold medal in the Women’s 10m Air pistol event at the Youth Olympic Games held at Buenos Aires, Argentina.

With this Manu became the first Indian shooter to win gold at the Youth Olympic Games. This is India’s third medal from shooting at the Games after Shahu Mane and Mehuli Ghosh clinched silver in men’s and women’s 10m air rifle events. Manu began the eight-woman final with 10.0 and followed it up with a 10.1 and 10.4. She led the Stage 1 with 99.3 after a sequence that included seven scores of 10 and above.

She slipped to the second place after the World Cup and Commonwealth Games gold medallist extended her domination in the following shots. However, Manu finished her last shot with 236.5 on the podium and clinched the yellow metal. Manu finished 0.6 point ahead of silver medallist Lana Enina from Russia while bronze went to Georgia’s Nino Khutsiberidze.
