Malkangiri,October 12: A woman Maoist, identified as Meena, was gunned down in an encounter with security forces near Andrapali forest in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, a senior police official said on Friday.
The encounter took place when a team of Greyhounds and Special Operations Group (SoG) of the district launched a counter-insurgency operation in the forest of Swabhiman area in the distrct, said ADG (Operation) RP Koche.
At least three Maoists also surrendered during the operation, he added.
The security forces also seized one Carbine and huge cache of Maoists items from the spot after the encounter.
