The Additional Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Umerkote in the Nabarangpur district was detained by the Odisha Vigilance on Monday while soliciting and taking a bribe.

Limaraj Pradhan has been identified as the Additional IIC.
In response to a tip, the Odisha anti-corruption team set up a trap for Limaraj by requesting and accepting cash in the amount of Rs. 20,000 from a complainant in exchange for refraining from taking any further action against him in a case involving a family dispute.
He requested that the complainant visit the Umerkote police station after 10 p.m. He went outside to a lonesome location to collect the bribe, but he did so to evade the CCTV cameras.
The Vigilance Team, which consisted of 1 DSP, 3 Inspectors, and other employees, was later seen arriving from a distance by the IIC after collecting the bribe amount. He then ran off into a nearby bushy area, where he was pursued and eventually caught. He attempted to fight to get away, but the Vigilance squad easily outnumbered him.
The entire Rs 20,000 bribe money that was in the sole possession of the accused Limaraj has been found and seized.
Under Section 7 of The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, a case has been filed in relation to Koraput Vigilance. Additional inquiries are being made about Limaraj.
