Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash on Saturday suspended in-charge of Janla police outpost while investigating the case of founding of a woman’s skeleton from a vehicle which was seized and parked on the premises of police outpost.
The suspended cop has been identified as Satyabrata Grahacharya.
According to reports, the vehicle was parked on the campus of the Janla police outpost after it was seized by the Ganjam district police for transporting ganja in 2019. However, a human skeleton was found from the vehicle when some cops from Berhampur Police Station visited the Janla outpost in February this year with an aim to release the vehicle. However, to their surprise, they found a skeleton inside the seized vehicle.
The skeleton was sent to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar for autopsy and the post-mortem reports ascertained that the skeleton was that of a woman whose age is said to be around 45 year.
While the Police Commissionerate is carrying out further investigation to identify the deceased woman, the reason behind parking the sized four-wheeler on the premises of Janla police outpost instead of Berhampur is yet to be known.
