Puri,16 Jan. 2019: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has issued show cause notice to 34 servitors in connection with the delay in the conduct of rituals in Srimandir on December 28.
The rituals of deities of the 12th century shrine were delayed after a cease work agitation by a group of Bhitarachha servitors over alleged assault of one of their co-workers by police.
The temple administration has directed the concerned servitors to show cause as to why and in which circumstances the rituals were delayed. The servitors will face music if they fail to submit the replies within the stipulated period, the administration said.
Notably, the servitors kept the doors of the sanctum sanctorum closed protesting assault of a servitor by police. Consequently, the deities of the temple had to go without food for 14 hours on December 28.
