In connection with the deaths of four family weavers in Jamdola village, Bheden block, Bargarh district, Bargarh Police have opened a murder case.

A murder case has been reported and a thorough investigation has been started to solve the matter, according to Bargarh SP Smit Parmar, who made the announcement during a Monday visit to the crime scene with an executive magistrate.

Smith Parmar, the Bargarh SP, gave an update on the probe, saying, “I extensively investigated the building and discovered the bodies of the mother and daughter in a room on the first floor and the father and son in two different rooms on the ground floor. While one body was discovered hanging and three bodies were discovered in a lying position.

A murder case, according to him, has been reported. A scientific team is working to gather information while a comprehensive investigation team is underway, according to Parmar.

Seshadev Meher (55), Kshireswari Meher (48), Arabind Meher (28) and Shivani Meher (20)—all weavers—have been named by the police as the deceased.

Notably, on Sunday, the police were notified by neighbours and others due to a terrible stench coming from the building. After arriving at the scene, a squad from the Bheden police station under the direction of IIC Sangita Mohapatra forced open the locked door to discover the four bodies.
