Bhubaneswar: As Odisha gears up for the Men’s Hockey World Cup-2018, Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Jena today informed that the city will be completely Wi-Fi enabled before the start of the mega event.

Jena announced this during a programme held on the occasion of Local Self Governance Day today.

The decision to make the city fully Wi-Fi enabled was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by CM Naveen Patnaik earlier this year, after which it was revealed that fibre optic network would be spread across the city along with setting up around 1800 Wi-Fi access points.

Jena also revealed that as many as 100 more city buses will be rolled out to facilitate the local commuters.

On making Bhubaneswar look smarter, the Mayor said, “The Smart city will be given a much smarter look as plans have already been finalised to paint the walls across 80-km stretch in and around the city ahead of Men’s Hockey World Cup. The walls will showcase the unique art, rich culture and history of Odisha.”

Jena further assured the city residents that the problem of water-logging in Bhubaneswar will soon be fixed.

All these major announcements have been made keeping in view the Hockey extravaganza that is scheduled to be held from November 28 to December 16, 2018 here at the Kalinga Stadium.
