Nuapada,Dec.24 : Thirteen bonded labourers were rescued from a house in Kumutimunda village under Komna police limits in Nuapada district on Monday.
Sources said the labourers were being taken to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh for work with a help of a middleman.
Based on information from a villager that some children were held captive in a house, a team of Komna police conducted a raid there. During the search, police rescued 13 bonded labourers.
The police have also detained the middleman for further interrogation.
While a probe has been initiated into the mater, efforts are on to send the workers back to their villages, the police said.
