New Delhi.05 Jan. 2019: Senior BJD leader and MP Bhartruhari Mahtab today met former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief, Akhilesh Yadav in New Delhi to seek support for passing the Women’s Reservations Bill.
Reportedly, the Samajwadi party chief visited the residence of Bhartruhari Mahtab in New Delhi to hold talks regarding the 33 per cent reservation for women in State assemblies and Parliament.
Mahtab also handed over a letter of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to Akhilesh seeking his support to pass the proposed women’s reservation bill.
Two days ago, BJD MP from Puri, Pinaki Mishra had met Jammu & Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and held talks with him regarding the matter.
Notably, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik had written to Prime Minister in December last year demanding necessary steps for passing the Bill for reservation of one-third of seats in Parliament and State Legislatures for women.
In order to garner support from all the national and regional level parties, the ruling BJD had assigned the party leaders to meet the other parties personally and hold talks in this regard.
