Rourkela.Dec. 20: A woman has been arrested for allegedly throwing acid on her husband’s lover in Plant site police limits in Rourkela last night opposing their illicit relationship.
The accused has been identified as Mani Kirai, wife of Kisaan Kirai of Bondamunda.
As per sources, Kisaan was involved in an alleged extra-marital affair with the victim, who happens to be a widow. However, Mani developed suspicion regarding the affair and caught both in a parking space of the railway station.
In a fit of rage, Mani threw acid on the woman. The widow sustained injuries on her face, neck, and hand and was rushed to Ispat General Hospital.
On being informed, police reached the spot and lodged a complaint. A case under Section of IPC 341, 326 (b) and 506 was registered against her. While Mani is in police custody, further investigation into the case is on, sources said.
