Odisha finished first out of 26 states and union territories in the ‘IndiaSkills 2021’ events, the country’s largest skill competition, on Monday with 51 medals. Odisha came out on top with 10 gold, 18 silver, nine bronze, and 14 medallions. With 30 medals, Maharashtra remained in second place, while Kerala took third place with 25 medals. The events, which took place in Delhi from January 7 to 9, drew over 500 contestants from 26 states and union territories.
The National Skill Development Corporation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), held a closed-door competition in which 54 skills were demonstrated, including concrete construction, beauty therapy, car painting, health and social care, visual merchandising, graphic design technology, wall and floor tiling, and welding.
MSDE Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal congratulated over 150 participants. The champions of the IndiaSkills 2021 Nationals will have the opportunity to compete in the WorldSkills International Competition in Shanghai, China, in October of this year.
“The government, industry, and specialists will collaborate to guarantee that Team India has the necessary training and tools to compete at the highest level in the WorldSkills competition.” “I am confident that we will win more medals at the global platform this year,” the MSDE Secretary stated.
