According to Pritiranjan Ghadei, Minister of State for Skill Development & Technical Education Department on Thursday, value addition is urgently needed, but value addition of human resources is essential for the development of New India.
Speaking at the curtain raiser event for the upcoming Odisha Skill Conclave 2023, held in Delhi, the minister said, “We are delighted to host the Odisha Skill Conclave in our state. The objective of the conclave is to encourage, motivate and build the confidence of the youth that will help them drive their careers and make a change for the larger interest of the country.”
Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority, said, “We are thankful to National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) that helped us showcase the immense potential of the skilled workforce from Odisha. The brand ‘Skilled in Odisha’ has been created with the intention of drawing national and international attention to the skilling ecosystem in Odisha.”
“Odisha has proven to be a pioneer in skilling and has displayed great potential,” said Usha Padhee, principal secretary of the department of skill development and technical education. The Odisha Talent Conference is a special chance to highlight the accomplishments of the state and the numerous prospects across industries. There is a demand for qualified workers on a worldwide scale, and we are aiming to create a workforce that can meet the escalating demand across sectors. Also, we are assisting the state’s kids in realising their goals.
Atul Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, said, “Odisha is one of the most important states in the country with respect to skill development. The initiatives taken towards skilling and the emphasis on the same has been phenomenal. The G20 working group on education will be hosting the third meeting on ‘Future of Work’ which will be an important discussion for the state. Given the increasing focus on skilling across the world, the Odisha Skill Conclave will be an important milestone for more achievements and success from the state.”
Shailesh K Pathak, Secretary General, FICCI, said, “The economic potential of the cities in India will double by 2040 and so will the demand for skilled workers. With the focus on Mission Shakti initiative of the Centre, skilling for women will be essential in the coming years. This demographic turning point will play a pivotal role in achieving India’s growth journey.”
During the occasion, a film on the Global Skills Centre in Odisha was featured. It showed the amenities at the centre that support upskilling and entrepreneurship programmes as well as high-end skill training.
From April 20 to 22, Bhubaneswar will play host to the Odisha Skill Conclave 2023.
The three-day event will have a number of future MoUs, conferences, exhibitions, demonstrations, and cultural activities in addition to providing a wealth of chances for the state’s talented workers.
The Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), the Skill Development & Technical Education Department, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), who served as the Industry Partner, held the curtain-raising event.
