Following the President of India’s issuance of their warrants of appointment yesterday, two senior judicial officials were sworn in as Judges of the Orissa High Court this afternoon.

In 2011, Justice Gourishankar Satapathy, the ninth-most senior judge in the State, joined the Odisha Superior Judicial Service. He served in a variety of capacities as a District Judge throughout the course of the last ten years, and just before being appointed to the High Court, he was the Director of the Odisha Judicial Academy.

As the 15th senior-most judicial official in the State, Justice Chittaranjan Dash joined the Odisha Superior Judicial Service in 2013 and held a variety of posts. When his name was suggested for promotion, he was serving as the Orissa High Court’s Registrar General.

The Supreme Court Collegium cleared their names last month. The number of judges in the High Court increases to 23 after their addition.
