Two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists have been reportedly killed in an encounter with security forces in Tral in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. One CRPF jawan has been injured and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, reports a news agency.

The operation is still underway as one more JeM terrorist is reported to be trapped. The gunfight started on Tuesday evening following intelligence inputs about a group of militants hiding in the area.

Security forces comprising the army’s counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and the Special Operations Group of the state police launched a cordon and search operation in Tral.

“As security forces tightened the cordon, militants fired at them, triggering the gunfight,” police said.

Meanwhile, protests started in the area with stone pelters trying to disrupt the operation. Reports said security forces are using tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.
