In a remarkable display of commitment to improving the lives of citizens, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated three housing complexes on 20th November 2023, delivering 1,722 well-built houses to slum dwellers in Bhubaneswar. This momentous achievement is a testament to the success of the state government’s “Saharanchal Awas Yojana” (urban housing scheme), exemplifying Naveen Patnaik’s visionary leadership in addressing housing challenges.

The three complexes—Keshari Residency in Satya Nagar, Buddha Vihar in Chandrasekharpur, and Barunei Enclave in Subudhipur—stand as beacons of progress, providing not just shelter but a renewed sense of dignity for the residents.

In Chandrasekharpur’s Buddha Vihar, a 5-storey building was inaugurated, marking the completion of 820 houses under the Affordable Housing Project (AHP). These pucca houses, situated on 12 acres of land, are part of a larger initiative that aims to construct a total of 2,600 houses, furthering the cause of accessible and affordable housing.

Shantipalli in Satya Nagar witnessed the fulfillment of 560 houses under the In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR) initiative, contributing significantly to the goal of providing dignified living conditions for the residents. The project envisions a total of 1,300 houses, emphasizing the state’s commitment to comprehensive urban development.

In Subudhipur, under the Affordable Housing Project (AHP), 342 houses were handed over to slum-dwellers, marking a crucial step in eradicating inadequate housing conditions and uplifting the community.

The strategic allocation of Keshari Residency for the residents of Shantipalli and Barunei Enclave for those of Tarini Basti slum demonstrates the government’s targeted approach to addressing specific community needs.

Under the Saharanchal Awas Yojana, the government aims to construct approximately 7,000 pucca houses, with 1,700 already completed. Each house in these transformative projects features a bedroom, a hall, a kitchen, and a bathroom, providing not just shelter but a holistic living environment.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s leadership shines through in these initiatives, showcasing a commitment to inclusive development and ensuring that every citizen has access to a dignified living space. The inauguration of these housing complexes marks a significant stride towards realizing the vision of a socially inclusive and prosperous Odisha under his able guidance.
