One sleeper class and three general coaches leapt off the tracks after passing through Jeypore railway station, it claimed, adding that more inquiry is ongoing.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) released a statement on Monday stating that at least four coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger special train had derailed in the Koraput region of Odisha.

But no casualties have been indicated thus far.

The event happened in the late afternoon while travelling between the Jeypore and Chatriput train stations.

One sleeper class and three general coaches leapt off the tracks after passing through Jeypore railway station, it claimed, adding that more inquiry is ongoing.

According to the statement, officials on board accident relief trains were dispatched to the scene to begin relief and restoration efforts.

The relief efforts were being watched over by Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy, ADRM (infrastructure) Sudhir Kumar Gupta, ADRM (operations) Manoj Kumar Sahoo, and other personnel.

For the stranded passengers, alternative transportation plans have been established, it was added.
