Swabhiman Anchal locals in the Malkangiri district of Odisha celebrated “Azadi ka amrit Mahotsav” in honour of the country’s 75th anniversary of independence.
Maoists have previously flown black flags in the area because security officers were forbidden from entering the Maoist stronghold. Even on government property, the banned group had made it illegal to fly flags in honour of Independence Day and Republic Day.
However, this year, the villagers raised Tiranga at the monuments of Maoist leaders in the district’s Jantri, Gorasetu, Ghanabeda, and Orapadar.
“Malkangiri locals are enthusiastic about celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Nitesh Wadhwani, Superintendent of Police (SP), Malkangiri said, “We are convinced that there is no support for Maoists here and it is the actual independence for the Swabhiman Anchal.
The 76th anniversary of Independence Day saw increased security in Koraput. The district’s entry and departure points have all been sealed, and police patrols have been stepped up in the Andhra bordering area as well.
The police departments have all been placed on high alert. An Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP), seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), seven Inspectors, 25 officers, and three platoon forces have been sent to supervise the security arrangements.
Because the district will be celebrating Independence Day, security has been strengthened. For security reasons, the routes connecting Jeypore, Rayagada, and Sunabeda have been sealed, according to Koraput’s Additional SP, Utkal Keshari Das.
He continued, “Special Operation Group (SOG) have been deployed as Koraput is a Maoist-prone zone.”
Similar to this, security has been stepped up in the Kandhamal district. The security measures were assessed by Vinit Agrawal, Kandhamal SP.
