The additional district judge also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 each on the convicts, identified as Dilip Acharya, Pramod Behera and Krushna Das.

According to police, Yudhistir Nahak was abducted on December 18, 2012. Later, his son Sankar Nahak had lodged a missing complaint at Khallikote police station.

Based on the evidence, the police arrested nine persons including Dilip Acharya, Pramod Behera and Krushna Das on August 6, 2012. However, six persons were acquitted by the court.

The investigation revealed that accused Dilip collected cash of Rs 1,60,000 from Sankar Nahak on the pretext of providing job to him and his younger brother in the military.

When Dilip failed to provide them job, Yudhistir and his son compelled him to hand over a piece of land in return of the cash. Out of grudge, Dilip later hatched a plan to eliminate Yudhistir.
