New Delhi, 01 Feb. 2019: The budget will lend fresh impetus to the efforts to build a new India and fulfill aspirations of the society, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said.
Modi said the budget will empower the poor as well as strengthen the farmers by providing them fresh impetus to the economy.
The Prime Minister said the budget proposals will directly benefit 12 crore farmers, 3 crore middle-class people and 30 to 40 crore unorganized workers.
He said it was a long-pending demand for raising the Income Tax exemption limit for salaried class to Rs 5 lakh.
Our government has met that demand, he said emphatically. This has reflected his government’s commitment towards the salaried middle class that contributes to nation building by paying taxes.
Dwelling upon Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi he said each marginal farmer will get Rs 6,000 annually in three installments with effect from December 1, 2018.
Modi said the scheme with an annual outlay of Rs 75,000 crore will benefit 12 crore marginal farmers in the country.
This is the biggest scheme for the farmers since Independence, Modi said.
