The Odisha government has permitted the activation of telemedicine service for non-COVID patients due to the risk of non-COVID patients being unable to access medical services in hospitals due to an increase in coronavirus cases. On Thursday, the state administration issued an order directing telemedicine platforms to give remote medical support to those in need.
“The current COVID-19 situation has created a significant barrier to patient’s access to hospitals for general treatment. Given the circumstances, it was determined to make effective and proactive use of telemedicine centres established in medical colleges and other institutions “According to the notification,
The telemedicine service will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, VIMSAR, Burla, Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics in Cuttack, according to the statement.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the service will be offered at four new medical colleges and hospitals in Balasore, Baripada, Bolangir, and Koraput, as well as the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and the Rourkela General Hospital (RGH).
Only one attendant should be allowed in the IPD for critical patients, and no attendant should be allowed for ambulatory patients. Medical officers in the Outpatient Department (OPD) should not recommend frequent patient visits if they are not necessary. This is said by chief district medical officers and public health officers.
