The Odisha government made the decision to require the wearing of face masks in all healthcare facilities on Monday in response to the spike in Covid-19 cases in the nation and the state.

All health organisations, medical schools, and hospitals in the state of Odisha were ordered by the Directorate of Public Health to utilise face masks in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

“In view of the rising of Covid-19 cases both in the country and in Odisha as a part of adopting Covid-appropriate behaviour in health institutions, it has been decided to enforce to use of masks in all health institutions in the state,” an official order said.

Furthermore, the directive mandates the usage of masks by all medical professionals during work hours, all officials, and anybody else present at gatherings or congregations, especially in dimly lit spaces.

Face masks should be worn by anyone working in clinical laboratories, providing other hospital support services, travelling to places where there is a high risk of transmission, and anyone with flu-like symptoms.
