The state government has made the decision to revoke the land granted to 14 enterprises since they have been making no attempt to establish their projects on the site for years. According to a decision made by the state cabinet, land leased out for any project would return to the government if it is not used for three years in order to weed out non-serious developers.
The Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) has revoked the land leases granted to six industries, and six additional units have been given a show-cause notice requesting a justification for the cancellation of the leases, according to Industries Minister Pratap Keshari Deb’s statement to the Assembly.
Brady and Morris, Deomines and Minerals (P) Ltd, Uttam Galva, Sahara India Ltd, and Visa Power were among the industries whose allotment was revoked. Uttam Galva received about 370 acres in Sukinda, 16 acres in Jajpur, and 27 acres in Keonjhar, while Deomines received 142 acres in Sundargarh, Brady and Morris received 15 acres in Duburi, Sahara India received 466 acres in Balangir, and Visa Power received 495 acres in Cuttack.
Tisco, Orbit Motors, Brahma Iron, Konark lspat Ltd, Krebs India Pvt Ltd, and the Asian Institute of Public Health (AIPH) have all received show cause notices for the revocation of allotments. The state government had given Tisco 120 acres each in Nayagarh and Barbil, Brahma Iron 67 acres in Jharsuguda, Orbit Motors 5.4 acres in Jharsuguda, Konark Ispat 113 acres in Jharsuguda, Krebs India 30 acres in Mayurbhanj, and AIPH 20 acres in Jatni.
The minister stated that the land connected to Brady and Morris, Deomines, and Uttam Galva is currently under litigation because its promoters have sought legal protection from the cancellation decision. While Hindalco Industries Ltd. has once more proposed to build a two MTPA alumina refinery with an investment of ‘8,000 crore, IDCO is initiating action to reclaim 27 acres of land at Bistapal in Keonjhar from Uttam Galva. In the district of Dhenkanal, another promoter, CESC Ltd, has given up 811 acres of land. 2,968 acres of property at Paradip that had been given to the Korean steel giant POSCO had previously been taken by the government.
