A crop loss of at least 33 percent occurred on about 2,63560 hectares of crop land in 64 blocks and 15 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of 12 districts.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stated that the struggling farmers in the drought-affected parts of Odisha would receive input assistance totaling almost Rs 200 crore.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Chief Minister’s Office, the state government will bear the whole cost (CMO).

A crop loss of at least 33 percent occurred on about 2,63560 hectares of crop land in 64 blocks and 15 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of 12 districts. According to the statement, despite constant follow-up and enforcement by the state government with the technical advisory committee under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, many of the impacted farmers have still not received their Crop Insurance dues.

The Chief Minister has chosen to provide help out of the State’s own resources after taking into account the severity of the situation, requests from the affected farmers, and crop loss data from the Collectors.

The impacted districts’ collectors have been instructed to inform SRC of their funding needs, and the necessary actions will be made to provide aid right away. The statement concluded that approximately Rs 200 crore would be spent to allay the farmers’ plight.
