Mumbai: Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan’s ‘Sui Dhaaga’ which released last Friday is having a phenomenal run at the box office. The film, directed by Sharat Katariya and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, is being loved by the audience for its raw appeal and innocence of the characters. The performances of Varun as Mauji and Anushka as Mamta have been appreciated by the critics too. Besides, the critics also applauded the performance of the supporting starcast including Raghubir Yadav and Yamini Das who play Varun’s parents in the film
The film had an upward rise at the box office. On day 1, it collected an impressive Rs. 8.30 crore and the collections went up to Rs 12,25 crore on day 2 and Rs. 16.05 on day 3.
After a slight dip in collections on Monday (Rs. 7 crore), ‘Sui Dhaaga’ fetched Rs. 11.75 crore on Tuesday, gaining from the public holiday on Gandhi Jayanti. In just five days, the film has crossed the 50 crore mark at the box office and collected Rs. 55.35 crore.
Based on the Make In India campaign launched by the Government of India in 2014, Sui Dhaaga is a heartwarming story of self-reliance and pride. It is based on revival of the rich indigenous textiles of our country and finds its roots in the heart of India.
Shot extensively at Chanderi, Bhopal, Delhi and Ghaziabad, the film features strong performances and fine moments that weave into a convincing story.
