The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) sent an appeal to all school administrators on Friday asking them to avoid overcrowding school buses and auto-rickshaws.
The STA appealed in the following manner in a letter to the schools:
In a meeting on June 19, the Departmental Related Standing Committee of the Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) raised worry about the high number of traffic accidents brought on by overcrowding in school buses.
The STA has ordered to conduct strict checking of student overloading in school buses and Auto-Rickshaws due to the large number of children being put into these vehicles.
It is notable that on Sunday, the Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) urged all school administrators in the State to apply the brakes to unsafe cars used to transport children.
According to the State Transport Authority of Odisha’s plea, schools should ensure that the vehicles transporting students are safe and compliant with traffic laws. On April 24, 2022, this had been completed.
