Lucknow.05.Jan.2019: The Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) have agreed on a poll pact in view of the ensuing general election in 2019 in Uttar Pradesh.
According to an SP leader a formal announcement on the ‘gathbandhan’ or alliance between the two key parties in Uttar Pradesh is likely later this month.
The national spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said the Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati had given their in-principle approval for an alliance.
This was done after a series of meetings held in this connection in recent times, he added.
Sources said the two leaders had also met on Friday on this matter.
