Shanti Devi, a well-known social worker and recipient of the Padma Shri award, died Friday night at his home in Gunupur, Odisha’s Rayagada district. She was 88 years old at the time. On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and a number of other dignitaries paid tribute to the late Odisha social worker.
“Shanti Devi Ji will be remembered as a voice for the poor and downtrodden.” She worked tirelessly to alleviate suffering and establish a more just and healthy society. Her death hurts me. My condolences go out to her family and many admirers. “Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted.
