Moscow: With the help of Muen-radiography, scientists are busy scanning the mysterious structure discovered in the Caspian Sea near Durban in Russia.

They believe that it can be one of the oldest churches in the world. At the same time some people say that it may also be a water reservoir (owing to its rectangular shape and the texture) or a forest firearm temple.

Made of local shell limestone, the structure is about 1700 years old. It is located in the north-western part of the medieval fortress Naryanart.

However, due to excavation work here, this site of UNESCO could be in danger.

Researchers from the Russian Academy of Sciences, Skobeltsin Institute of Nuclear Physics Lomnomosov Moscow State University and Dagestan State University used non-invasive technology muon radiography to create an image.

Various findings of archaeologists showed that the structure is in the shape of a cross. It is being expected that it could be a church. It is 36 feet high, 50 feet long and 44 feet wide.
