New Delhi,Dec.10 : The apex court has refused to interfere in the decision of Jammu and Kashmir Governor relating to dissolution of state assembly.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the dissolution.

It is likely to clear the way for fresh election in the state. The state was under Governor’s rule since the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government fell apart in June.

The J&K Governor had dissolved the assembly amid claims by political parties to form government in the state. It was a high octane drama which the Governor termed as divisive forces uniting together to capture power.

Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP approached the Governor’s office to stake claim for formation of  a government in the state with a support from Congress and Omar Abdullah’s National Conference on November 22.

Immediately afterwards, Sajjad Lone, leader of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) also wrote to Raj Bhavan that his party has the required support to form a new government in the state.
