Savan 2019: Shravan Month To Start On July 17

Bhubaneswar : During Shravan month of Hindu calendar, the Nakshatra Shravan is the ruling Star on full Moon day and therefore, this month has been named as Shravan.

According to the legends, Parvati wanted to marry Lord Shiva. Hence, she performed penance and fasting for the whole month of Saawan. Lord Shiva pleased with the devotion of Parvati, fulfilled her wish. He is very fond of the Shravan month as he got reunited with his wife during this period.

As such, this entire month is dedicated to Lord Shiva and worshipping him is said to bring the most auspicious results and blessings.

Many people observe fast during the entire month and make offerings to Lord Shiva daily. A large number of people get various Pujas for Lord Shiva performed during this period which gives very auspicious results as per our ancient texts and scripts.

Shravan month for the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar will start from Wednesday, 17th of July 2019 and will end on Thursday, 15th of August 2019.

The Shravan Somvar Vrat will be observed on every Monday i.e. on 22nd July, 29th July, 5th August and 12th August here.

Similarly, in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat will start from Friday, 2nd of August 2019 and will end on Friday, 30th of August 2019.

Shravan Somvar Vrat here will be observed on every Monday i.e. 5th of August, 12th of August, 19th of August and 26th of August.

This entire period will be very auspicious for Lord Shiva Devotees and all of them will observe fast either for the entire month or at least on every Monday which falls during this period.
