New Delhi,Jan.03 : The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill ’18, popularly known as Triple Talaq Bill, will be taken up in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
The upper house of the parliament is all set to get it passed. The bill which criminalizes the practice of instant triple talaq with a provision of 3 years’ imprisonment for the husband has already been passed in the lower house of parliament.
The bill was to be placed in the upper house on Wednesday but it could not be discussed due to pandemonium caused by the opposition.
There were repeated adjournments due to ruckus created by opposition members over the Bill and the Centre’s approval to Karnataka’s Mekedatu dam on Cauvery river.
Reports said apart from the Triple Talaq Bill, the house is expected to take up Sabarimala issue.
