To streamline the supply of limestone to the state’s businesses, the cabinet of Odisha has accepted a proposal to include limestone in the Long-Term Linkage (LTL) policy.

To streamline the supply of limestone to the state’s businesses, the cabinet of Odisha has accepted a proposal to include limestone in the Long-Term Linkage (LTL) policy.

According to Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra, these companies would now obtain their supply of lime stone from Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC).

According to Mohapatra, the Industrial Development Corporation Of Odisha Limited, which has merged with OMC, proposed adding lime stone to the LTL policy.

Insisting that the action will increase limestone output and ensure its best use, Mohapatra said that the state exchequer will also profit.

During the day, the cabinet also authorised the purchase of materials for the building of 40 lift irrigation schemes with input sites on various rivers in the districts of Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Gajpati, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Angul, and Cuttack. An investment of Rs 1879.61 crore, including maintenance and operational expenditures, will be used to carry out these projects.

According to Mohapatra, it also accepted a tender for the construction of an integrated barrage (in-stream storage structure) across the rivers Kochila and Baitarani, which crosses portions of the Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.

This storage facility will restore Baitarani and reduce flooding in the Kochila River. Additionally, it will meet a portion of the population’s domestic and drinking demands in Bhadrak and Jajpur.

The chief secretary stated that the cabinet also approved the lease of five acres of public land for the Central Research Institute in Homeopathy (CIRH), the development of 50 additional acres for Rajendra University’s infrastructure, and the establishment of the National Center for Disease Control on 3.125 acres (NCDC).

The cabinet approved a proposal to reserve 15% of seats at government physical education colleges for students living in government sports dormitories.
