Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Haryana BJP leader, Professor Ganeshi Lal Governor of Odisha today.
According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communiqué, Lal will take over as the new Governor of Odisha, a post which had fallen vacant in March this year after veteran Naga leader, SC Jamir completed his tenure.
“The President of India is pleased to appoint Prof Ganeshi Lal to be the Governor of Odisha with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office,” the communiqué said.
Lal is the former chief of BJP’s Haryana unit.
Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik is currently holding additional charge as Odisha Governor.
The President also appointed Kerala BJP chief, Kummanam Rajasekharan the new Governor of Mizoram today.
He will be replacing Lt General (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma, whose tenure will be ending on May 28, 2018.
