President Droupadi Murmu will embark on a two-day visit to Odisha beginning Monday, officials said. The visit will see her engaging with tribal communities, paying homage at historic temples, and highlighting development opportunities in the state.
During the visit, President Murmu will take part in the foundation-day celebrations of the Bharatiya Biswabasu Shabar Samaj at Kaliapalli in Nayagarh district, the officials added.
Itinerary Highlights
- She is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar from Raipur in the afternoon and then travel by helicopter to Kantilo in Nayagarh, where she will visit the historic Nilamadhab Temple.
- Later, she will attend the Kaliapalli event as the chief guest. She will return to Bhubaneswar in the evening and stay overnight at Raj Bhavan. On Tuesday, she will depart for New Delhi.
Focus on Tribal Culture & Tourism
In her address at Kaliapalli, President Murmu underlined the scenic and cultural potential of the region and said it could become a popular destination for pilgrims and tourists alike. She called for infrastructure development in Nayagarh to support this potential.
She also remarked on the symbiotic relationship between tribal traditions of forest-protection and India’s broader ecological heritage, urging tribal communities to engage with government schemes designed for their empowerment.
Security Arrangements
An official from the police confirmed that elaborate security arrangements have been made in Bhubaneswar and Nayagarh for the President’s visit, with approximately 360 police personnel deployed across key locations.
