Judge Subash Kumar Bihari of the special POCSO court was discovered hanged at his official residence in Cuttack, Odisha, on Friday. According to the police, he was discovered hanging, and it initially appears that this was a suicide case. Tapas Chandra Pradhan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Cuttack Zone 3, said: “A Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) court judge named Subash Kumar Bihari was discovered hanged in his official residence in the city of Cuttack. At first glance, it appears to be a suicide case. Further research is being done.”
Bihari was scheduled to return to work on Friday after a two-day break. He did, however, request an extension of his leave on Friday, and, according to the judge’s stenographer RN Mahapatra, he was contacted at 10 am and requested to rewrite the request.
He claimed that a few hours later, he learned that the judge was ill and was being transported to the hospital. According to accounts, the incident happened when the judge’s wife and daughter were away from the house. They didn’t interact much because they were both focused on their careers, according to Subodh Bihari, the judge’s brother. And he added that he was not aware of any problems in Cuttack concerning the judge’s family.
Bihari was transferred to the hospital in Cuttack as soon as the police arrived, where the medical staff pronounced him dead. The precise cause of his passing has not yet been made public. An investigation into the incident has been opened by the police.
