New Delhi,October 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the National Police Memorial & Museum in the National Capital on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day. The museum is dedicated to the Indian Police Force.

The memorial which was built a few years back has been refurbished by replacing the old rock structure. The museum, on the other hand, houses the history, artifacts, uniform and gear of central and state police forces. It is located in an underground facility within the premises of the national police memorial.

In his address, the PM said, “It is the day to remember every iawan who maintains law and peace in Jammu and Kashmir and fights against terrorism. Jawans on duty in Naxal-affected areas are doing a great service. It’s also due to them that number of Naxal-affected districts are going down and youth is coming to mainstream.”

“It is the result of your alertness that the elements which create unrest are unsuccessful in their attempts. The attempts to create fear and insecurity in the nation were foiled by you,” the PM added.

Worth mentioning, Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 to pay homage to the 1cs policemen who were killed in an ambush by Chinese troops at Ladakh’s Hot Spring area in 1959.

Home Minister Rainath Singh and senior BJP leader LK Advani also paid tributes to the martyred police
