Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India’s growth story remains resilient and remarkable despite global disruptions and uncertainty. Speaking at the inauguration of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida, the Prime Minister asserted that disruptions do not deter India — instead, they inspire the country to find new direction and fresh opportunities.

“Disruption does not distract India; it gives us new direction. Amidst global challenges, India is building a strong foundation for the coming decades — this is our resolve, the mantra of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” PM Modi said, reiterating the government’s vision of self-reliant growth and manufacturing excellence.

Make in India: From Chips to Ships, and Rifles to Missiles

The Prime Minister emphasised that India must become completely self-reliant in production, declaring that “every product that can be made in India, must be made in India.”

He said the government’s Make in India mission now extends “from chips to ships,” reflecting India’s ambitions in semiconductors, electronics, and naval manufacturing.

PM Modi outlined the country’s push for a vibrant defence manufacturing ecosystem, noting that every component in India’s modern defence architecture will soon carry the ‘Made in India’ mark.

Highlighting recent milestones, he said production of AK-203 assault rifles will begin shortly at the Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) facility in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh — a joint venture between India and Russia. The indigenous version, called ‘Sher’, represents a leap in local defence capability.

He also said the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor is emerging as a hub for missile and weapon systems manufacturing, including the production of BrahMos missiles, underscoring India’s shift from importer to exporter of advanced defence hardware.

“Our defence sector is no longer dependent — it is now a driver of growth and innovation,” he noted.

Empowering MSMEs Through Digital Platforms

PM Modi also drew attention to India’s success in building inclusive digital platforms, calling them “platforms for all and progress for all.

He cited examples of transformative initiatives — UPI, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, ONDC, and the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) portal — which have opened access for small traders and entrepreneurs.

Through GeM, over 25 lakh sellers and service providers, many of them small shopkeepers, are now supplying directly to government departments — a shift he described as “unthinkable under previous governments.”

“Today, even a small trader can sell directly to the Government of India. This is real empowerment,” the Prime Minister said.

Next-Generation GST Reforms and Economic Roadmap

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to Reform, Perform, and Transform, PM Modi announced that next-generation GST reforms were implemented earlier this week.

These structural reforms, he said, will simplify registration, reduce tax disputes, and speed up refunds — especially benefiting MSMEs.

“These changes will accelerate India’s growth story and ensure our entrepreneurs spend more time innovating, less time complying,” he said.

PM Modi reiterated India’s resolve to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, adding that the country’s progress remains people-led, technology-driven, and globally respected.

UP Trade Show: Showcasing India’s Growth Engine

The third edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show, envisioned by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is being held at the India Expo Centre and Mart from September 25–29.

With Russia as the partner country, the event features 2,400 exhibitors and 1.25 lakh B2B visitors, representing sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, culture, and innovation.

“This trade show is a window to India’s industrial strength and UP’s rise as a global manufacturing destination,” CM Yogi Adityanath said.

PM Modi toured the exhibition, witnessing next-generation technologies and startups, and commended Uttar Pradesh for positioning itself as a key contributor to India’s export and innovation ecosystem.

Global Diplomacy: Possible Modi–Trump Bilateral on the Cards?

In parallel diplomatic developments, speculation is mounting about a possible meeting between Prime Minister Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the upcoming ASEAN and East Asia Summits in Kuala Lumpur (October 26–28).

While no official confirmation has been made by New Delhi or Washington, Malaysia has informed India about President Trump’s visit. Diplomatic sources suggest that trade talks, energy cooperation, and strategic issues could top the agenda if the bilateral meeting takes place.

The ASEAN summit — hosted by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim — will also be attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian President Vladimir Putin, positioning India at the centre of a high-stakes multilateral dialogue.

Trade negotiations between India and the U.S., stalled earlier over tariffs and energy imports, have recently resumed. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s meeting with EAM S. Jaishankar in New York last month reaffirmed India’s status as a “critical partner” for Washington.

Separately, PM Modi also welcomed President Trump’s Gaza peace plan, calling it “a viable pathway to sustainable peace, security, and development” in West Asia.

Conclusion: Resilient India, Rising India

PM Modi’s address at the UP International Trade Show underscored India’s resilience in an uncertain global order, its unwavering pursuit of self-reliance, and the government’s commitment to innovation, reform, and inclusive growth.

From defence corridors and digital empowerment to global diplomacy, the Prime Minister’s message was clear — India’s rise is steady, confident, and rooted in self-belief.

“India stands with its industries, traders, and citizens — together, we will build a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” PM Modi affirmed.
