Bhubaneswar: Petrol Pumps across the nation are preparing to change to BS6 fuel emission norms by April 1.
A government rule of shifting to BS6 norms from existing BS4 in vehicles has been a concern in the automobile sector. While existing BS4 vehicles are sold at discounted prices, BS6 vehicles will replace them from April 2020.
There will be a drastic change in the emission after shifting to BS6 fuels. The new fuel will have significantly less sulphur content. Sulphur is responsible for Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbons and NOx emissions.
It is worth noting that new BS6 vehicles will significantly reduce vehicular pollution. The BS6 norms are introduced after BS4 norms. Interestingly the BS5 norms were skipped and a change in norms was anyhow necessary.
