The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Odisha, announced that today saw the addition of 358 allopathic medical officers, 116 homoeopathic medical officers, and 36 homoeopathic lecturers to the Health and Family Welfare Department.
While claims that healthcare services are in disarray continue to surface on a regular basis, 510 doctors were given appointments throughout the State on Friday.

The Lok Seva Bhawan’s convention centre today hosted an orientation programme for the new hires. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the new hires virtually and urged them to make Sustha Odisha – Sukhi Odisha their professional objective.
According to the CM, the Health Department’s budget has grown over time. In the financial year 2019–20, the budget provision was over Rs 6,800 crore, while in the year 2022–23, it was over Rs 12,000 crore. He emphasised that this represents more than 6% of the State Plan.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said that people in rural regions had high expectations of doctors and he urged the medical professionals to strive hard to live up to those expectations. Health Minister Naba Das also advised the doctors to work with commitment and dedication.
On the other hand, tales of patients being transported in cots and slings and ambulances failing to reach patients because of the absence of motorable roads continue to be reported in the State. Additionally, claims of deaths brought on by medical malpractice have raised concerns for the State.
