Ruben Banerjee will be joining Outlook magazine as its editor, he announced on Twitter. “I think it is a great honour and a privilege to work with a great magazine like Outlook which had legendary editor like Vinod Mehta. It will also be a great challenge to live up to the standards that previous editors have set,” he told exchange4media.

“I am looking forward to work with a great editorial team and we will roll out the plan once I am on desk. I will be joining them on May 10,” he further added.

Banerjee had quit Hindustan Times in December last year as National Affairs Editor to focus on his book on Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The book will be published in July 2018. “The book will hit the stands in July and it is being brought out by Juggernaut. It is a book on Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha,” he informed and added, “it is not an authorised biography but will read like a novel.”

Banerjee has previously worked with Al Jazeera as its Online Editor and had also been associated with India Today and Indian Express.

“Whatever the challenges and odds are, I still think there will always be space for honest journalism. So magazines will always have a role to play and good magazines will always thrive,” he said about the future of magazine journalism.

After announcing about his new innings on Twitter, Banerjee received best wishes from industry colleagues and others.

“Thrilled to be joining as the editor of @Outlookindia. Great brand, rich legacy, enthusiastic team. Looking forward…” he had tweeted.
