In a landmark achievement under the leadership of the newly formed BJP-led Government in Odisha, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has lauded the state police for delivering one of the most impactful rescue operations in recent history.
The Odisha Police, in a statewide special drive titled Operation Anweshan, successfully traced and rescued 2,417 missing persons, including 358 children, between August 18 and 22.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Crime Against Women & Children Wing (CAW&CW)-Odisha, was designed to swiftly reunite missing individuals with their families and reinforce public trust in the law-and-order machinery.
Scale of the Operation
According to official data, the week-long operation resulted in the rescue of:
- 33 missing boys and 325 girls
- 2,059 women
Each of the rescued individuals has since been safely handed over to their families, marking a rare success rate for such a short span of action.
District-Wise Impact
- Puri emerged as the top-performing district, with 45 children and 504 women rescued.
- Bhadrak followed closely, reporting 37 children and 318 women traced.
- Cuttack also made significant contributions, rescuing 21 children and 304 women.
The results underscore both the reach and coordination capacity of the Odisha Police across districts.
A Growing Record of Success
Operation Anweshan is not an isolated effort. Since the start of 2025, Odisha Police has already rescued:
- 1,209 missing children
- 6,667 women
This sustained commitment reflects the Majhi Government’s prioritisation of women and child safety as a central pillar of governance.
Government Backing and Future Campaigns
Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has consistently emphasised the importance of people-centric policing. Under his leadership, the Odisha Police has been equipped with greater autonomy, resources, and political support to deliver measurable results on the ground.
A senior official from CAW&CW stated:
“A special drive to trace and rescue the missing children and women named Operation Anweshan was conducted throughout Odisha under the initiative of Crime Against Women and Children Wing, Odisha, from 18.08.2025 to 22.08.2025. Such campaigns will continue in the coming days.”
Strengthening Trust in Law and Order
The operation is not only a humanitarian success but also a governance milestone. By focusing on vulnerable sections of society, the BJP Government in Odisha and its police force have sent a strong message: public safety and dignity remain top priorities.
The success of Operation Anweshan positions Odisha Police as a model force for other states, while reinforcing the Majhi Government’s narrative of “Good Governance with Accountability and Action.”
