All the schools remain closed and special functions arranged on this day by the school children and their teachers to mark the occasion. As Pandit Nehru was very popular among the kids, his birth anniversary was deliberated to be celebrated as children’s day in India.

Children’s day is to celebrate “childhood”. Children are loved by one and all as they are the innocent ones.

Children’s Day is not just a day to let the future generation have its say. It is a day to remember a leader who, in his quiet but determined way laid the foundation to convert a nascent nation into a world power.

The national children’s centre, Jawahar Bal Bhavan is also named after Jawaharlal Nehru. It is celebrated all over India especially at the School level. On that day children need not wear uniform. Cultural programme, singing, sports competitions are held. Children enjoy themselves on that day being a blessed childhood. Children take an active part in celebrations. Competitions are held in their schools. Parents feel happy to see their children participating in the different competitions
